West Indies All-Rounder Hayley Mathews Appointed As New Captain Of Caribbean Team
West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews has been appointed as the new captain of the Caribbean team, and Stafanie Taylor’s seven-year reign as West Indies captain comes to an end.
Now setup with Matthew in charge:-
Who are the most successful West Indies women’s player who led them to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title in 2016 and the recent ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup semi-final in New Zealand – will play and remain part of the new setup with Mathew now in charge.

Mathews has served as vice-captain under Taylor in the past and West Indies coach Courtney Walsh believes the time was right to promote the 24-year-old to the top post.
“The selection panel felt it was time to make a change,” Walsh said.
“We thought the timing was right with the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup due early next year, if we are looking to make any changes now would be the best time so that we can get the new captain a couple of times under his belt. Can give the series. Enters the World Cup.
Can lead a team for a long time:-
“Haley Matthews is young; she has longevity in the sport, and she can lead the team long enough to gain experience and we are here to support her.
“For us, this is a win as we will see Stephanie focus on her best cricket and guide Hayley as she grows into the role of taking the team forward.”
While Mathews is expected to start in the new role, the next West Indies series is yet to be finalized and is likely to take place later this year.
“I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to captain the West Indies women’s team,” Mathews said.
“It is certainly an encouraging feeling and I welcome the experience of leading and learning with open arms.

“This team has been very close to my heart since the start of my professional career eight years ago. And the impact of Stephanie’s leadership over. Those eight years have played a major role in the player I am today.
“I look forward to working with the players to continue building on the progress the team has made so far.”
Taylor has scored over 8,000 runs and played over 250 white-ball matches. For West Indies and Mathews praised the outgoing captain.
