WIPL 2023: The Rules for foreign players will be different from men’s IPL in women’s IPL. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set Rs 12 crore as the salary cap for the Women’s IPL, which is going to be launched next month.
The size of the fund will have an annual increase of INR 1.5 Crore in the subsequent four years and will increase to INR 18 Crore by the end of the first five-year cycle.

There is no provision for icon players in the five-team league. Apart from this, there will also be a change in the rule of feeding foreign players (WIPL Overseas Players Rule) in women’s IPL other than in men’s IPL.
According to the information given to the prospective participants on Thursday, the BCCI has said that the player purse will start at Rs 12 crore in 2023, increase to Rs 13.5 crore in 2024 and Rs 15 crore in 2025.
There will be 16.5 crores in 2026 and 18 crores in 2027. This is the guideline for the first five years, during which there will be five teams in the first three years and six teams in the last two years of the cycle.
In another significant decision, the BCCI said that it will allow five foreign players in the playing XI, with at least one cricketer from an associate country.
This is different from the men’s IPL rule where only four foreign players are allowed. A source from the potential new franchise said the fifth player will be from an associate country.
According to Cricbuzz, “Teams will have the option of fielding up to five overseas players. Provided the fifth player is from an Associate country.”
The dates for the first edition have not been confirmed. But it is expected to take place from March 4 to 26. In all likelihood, the league will be played in Mumbai at the Brabourne Stadium in South Mumbai and the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
The first season will have 22 matches. The Wankhede is likely to be kept ready for the IPL. Which is likely to start on March 31 or April 1.
The prize money for the league is Rs 10 crore for the players of the teams. With Rs 6 crore for the winning side and Rs 3 crore for the runner-up.
