Women’s T20 Challenge: Maharashtra all-rounder Kiran Navgire scored a half-century of 69 runs as Velocity played the innings on Thursday.
Despite losing 16 runs to defending champions Trailblazers in the Women’s T20 Challenge here, a better run rate qualified for the final on May 28, in which she will face the Supernovas.

Trailblazers’ opener S Meghna’s 73 runs and Jemimah Rodrigues’ 66-run half-centuries also did not work to take the team to the final.
The team gave Velocity a huge target of 191 runs to win with a partnership of 113 runs for the second wicket between the two.
Velocity could only manage 174 for nine despite Kiran’s half-century (34 balls, five fours, five sixes).
But the team reached the final with this score as it needed to score at least 159 runs to qualify for the final. Trailblazers needed to win by at least 32 or more runs to ensure a place in the finals, but it did not happen.
Apart from Kiran, opener Shefali Verma contributed 29 runs, and Laura Wolvaert contributed 17 runs for velocity.
For Trailblazers, Rajeshwari Gaikwad and Poonam Yadav took two wickets each while Renuka Singh, Haley Mathews, Salma Khatoon, and Sofia Dunkley got one wicket each.
Velocity too had made a quick start with 32 runs in three overs. But lost two wickets in the next two overs.
Lost the wickets of Yastika Bhatia (19 runs, three fours) in the fourth over and Shefali Verma (15 balls, five fours) in the fifth over.
Velocity’s score was 50 for two in five overs. Kiran Navgire added 18 runs to the team’s account in the sixth over with two sixes and a four off Salma Khatoon.
Velocity had scored 105 for two in 10 overs, requiring them to score 86 runs in 60 balls. Poonam Rawat then got the third wicket for the team by getting Laura Wolwart (17) caught by the wicketkeeper.
Captain Deepti Sharma could only play three balls and Rajeshwari became Gaikwad’s second victim.
Then Kiran Navgire hit six consecutive sixes in the 14th over, he also completed his half-century with four fours, and four sixes in 25 balls by hitting the first six.
It looked like the match was going out of the hands of the Trailblazers but their bowlers did not allow Velocity to reach the victory with a quick few wickets. But even this victory was of no use to the trailblazers.
Earlier, in addition to the brilliant attacking innings of Meghna (47 balls, seven fours, four fours) and Jemima (44 balls, seven fours, one six), Velocity’s poor fielding contributed to this score of 190 for five which the players had to play. Dropped many easy catches.
