World Biggest Motera cricket Stadium With the Capacity of 1,32,000 in Ahemdabad renamed as the Narendra Modi Stadium Before the third-Test between India and England, BCCI has decided to rename newly Built Motera Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad as Narendra Modi Stadium.
Narendra Modi Stadium is the world’s largest cricket stadium, followed by the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Australia and the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the revamped stadium before the commencement of the third Test of the four-match series between India and England.
This stadium was the dream of the prime minister and he had during his stint as chief minister here floated the idea of building the world’s largest stadium,” Home Minister Amit Shah said at the event.
The stadium was built in 1982 and initially had a seating capacity of 49,000 which was later revamped in its present form. Spread across 63 acres, the stadium also has an indoor cricket academy including a world-class dormitory for 40 athletes.
The stadium has dressing rooms big enough to accommodate as many as four teams. The dressing rooms also boast of having a state-of-the-art gymnasium.
Meanwhile, six indoor practice pitches and three outdoor practice fields among other amenities are present in the stadium.
