World Cup 2023: South Africa’s cricket team has run into trouble in its path to direct qualification for next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup in India.

South Africa cancels ODI series against Australia :-

South Africa has canceled the three-match one-day international series against Australia to be held on their own soil. In such a situation, Australia will get these points for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Super League Series.

11th place in the points table of South Africa Super League :-

South Africa’s team is ranked 11th in the ICC World Cup 2023 Super League points table. In such a situation, it is finding it difficult to qualify the team directly. At the same time, if Australia gets 30 points, then South Africa’s team can go even lower.

Because of this, the South African team’s direct qualifying for the World Cup 2023 is now at risk, as the team will not play more ODIs.

Australia will get 30 points due to series cancellation :-

Actually, in January, the South African team was to play an ODI series in Australia. It has been canceled by South Africa, as the board wants their players to be available for the new T20 league.

Because of this, the South African team will return home after playing the Test series. Due to the cancellation of the ODI series, Australia is going to get 30 points, for which the approval of the ICC is awaited.

The African team will have to go through the qualification round:-

South Africa, which is called the bran of the ICC tournament; will have to go through the qualification round if the team is out of the race for direct qualification. In that case, South Africa’s team can qualify, but the team will have to play more matches continuously.

However, the South Africa Cricket Board had also said that if the series is rescheduled then we are ready to play.
