WPL 2023: Charlotte Edwards and Jhulan Goswami included in Mumbai’s coaching staff for WPL. Former England captain Charlotte has been appointed as the head coach of the Mumbai franchise in the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

Part of an all-women coaching staff:-

Edwards will be part of an all-female coaching staff, which also includes former India captain Jhulan Goswami.

Who will be the mentor and bowling coach of the franchise bought by the owners of Mumbai Indians. Former India all-rounder Devika Palshikar has been appointed as the batting coach.

WPL Players auction on February 13:-

Edwards and Goswami will be part of the Mumbai delegation at the WPL auction in Mumbai on February 13.

A maximum of 90 players are expecting to be sold during the day-long auction. This has been delayed as many of the five WPL franchises are in the ILT20 and SA20 tournaments, which will conclude over the weekend of February 11-12.

Each team will have a purse of Rs 12 crore (about US$1.46 million) for the inaugural season.

The team can buy a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 18 Players:-

Each team can buy a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 18 players, including seven foreign players including one associate player.

Unlike the men’s IPL, WPL teams will have the option of fielding five foreign players in the XI, providing one is from an associate country.

A total of 22 matches will be playing in the inaugural season of the WPL. Each team playing the other team twice, making a total of eight matches per team.

The top-ranked team will advance directly to the final. While the second- and third-placed teams will face off in qualifiers to determine the other finalists.
