Yashasvi Became Emotional Remembering His Parents After Scoring A Test Century On Debut

IND vs WI 1st Test 2023: Yashasvi Jaiswal became emotional remembering his parents after scoring a Test century on debut. The 21-year-old expressed his gratitude after grabbing the opportunity with both hands.

Yashasvi Jaiswal looked happy after scoring a century on debut during the first Test against West Indies on the second day, Thursday (July 13) at Windsor Park in Dominica.

After remaining unbeaten on 143 off 350 balls with 14 fours, he recalled his tough journey and dedicated his innings to his parents.

The left-handed batsman described it as an ’emotional moment’ for himself after reaching the hundred. After the end of the second day’s play, Yashasvi said, “It was an emotional moment (on his hundred) for me and for my family.

I want to do better:-

I would like to dedicate this inning to my parents, I am grateful to everyone, this is just a start and I want to do well in the future.

It is difficult to get chances in the Indian team, I want to thank everyone, the supporters, the team management, and Rohit bhai.

Jaiswal further said that he loves Test cricket and revealed the nature of the pitch after his brilliant hundred.

I wanted to continue it for my country:-

“The pitch is slow and the outfield is very slow, it was tough and challenging, it was very hot and I just wanted to continue doing it for my country, just playing ball-by-ball and enjoying my cricket. “

“I love Test cricket, I love the challenge, I enjoy being in conditions where the ball swings and seams. We have worked hard on everything, I just came out to express myself.

Jaiswal (143*) became the 17th Indian to score a century on his Test debut. Now the highest score by an Indian on Test debut away from home.

This opener broke the previous record of former India captain Sourav Ganguly (131 runs against England in 1996).
