Zimbabwe Won The Second ODI by Five Wickets Against Bangladesh

Zimbabwe won the second ODI by five wickets against Bangladesh and also won the three-match series, taking an unassailable 2–0 lead. Centuries from Sikandar Raza and captain Regis Chakabwa helped the hosts chase down the target of 291 runs.

Tamim Iqbal’s team called to bat first:-

Zimbabwe won the toss and called Tamim Iqbal’s team to bat first. Bangladesh started off brilliantly and scored 62 runs in the powerplay of 10 overs without losing any wickets.

The Bangla captain played a useful role at the top, scoring 50 off 45 balls. Najmul Hossain Shanto contributed 38 runs in 55 balls.

But it was the sixth wicket pair of Afif Hossain and Mahmudullah that made the difference for the Bangla Tigers. Afif was dismissed after scoring 41 runs in the same balls and at the other end, Mahmudullah remained unbeaten on 80 off 84 balls and took the Asian team for 290 runs in 50 overs.

All-rounder Performance by Sikandar Raza:-

Sikandar Raza’s all-rounder performance led Zimbabwe to a famous series win, Zimbabwe’s bowlers’ choice was their star all-rounder Raza, who took three for 56 in 10 overs.

Off-spinner Wesley Madhevere also played his part, taking two wickets for just 40 runs in nine overs. Zimbabwe’s chase was not particularly ideal as they lost their first in the first over and second in the third over.

Later, after eight overs, 27 for the loss of three wickets and was reduced to 49 for four in 15 overs. As it seemed almost impossible for the hosts to stay in the game.

Fifth wicket Partnership of Raza and Chakbawa:-

The fifth wicket partnership of Raza and Chakbawa came to their rescue. It added 201 runs and completely turned the tide in Zimbabwe’s favor.

The Zimbabwe captain scored 102 off 75 balls and was dismissed, requiring 41 runs in as many balls and five wickets in hand. When Chakbwa returned to the pavilion, the match was still in his grasp.

Raza continued his golden run with the bat and smashed 117* off 127 balls to score his second century of the series.

Tony Munyonga along with Raza scored an unbeaten 30 off 16 balls to complete the match in 47.3 overs.
