Cricket World Cup 2023: In the Super Six match of ICC Qualifier 2023, Scotland defeated West Indies (WI vs SCO) by 7 wickets and made a big upset. With this defeat, the West Indies team’s dream of qualifying for the World Cup ended. This will be the first time in the history of the World Cup that the West Indies will not be a part of this tournament.

Failed West Indies batsmen: –

Batting first, West Indies got off to a poor start. The team’s star players Shamar Brooks (0), Brand King (22), captain Shai Hope (13), Kyle Mayers (5) and Nicholas Pooran (21) returned early to the pavilion. At one stage West Indies lost their 6 wickets for 81 runs.

It looked like the entire team would be all out before 150, but Jason Holder and Roman Shepherd put on a 77-run partnership to take the West Indies to a score of 181.

Brilliant all-round performance from Brandon McMullen :-

Scotland’s star player Brandon McMullen did wonders in the first bowling. McMullen sent the Caribbean players to the pavilion. He took 3 wickets for 32 runs in 9 overs. McMullen took the wickets of the first three players of the West Indies. At the same time, chasing the target, Brandon McMullen played the match-winning innings.

Cricket World Cup 2023: West Indies will not be able to take part for the first time in 48 years :-

West Indies had achieved the distinction of becoming the World Champion twice in a row in the years 1975 and 1979. West Indies had participated in every edition of the 12 World Cup played so far. But this year the West Indies team will not be able to participate in the 13th edition. This is the first time in 48 years that the West Indies failed to qualify for the World Cup.
