Sri Lanka’s Opener batsman Upul Tharanga announces his Retirement from International Cricket after his 15-year old international career.
He last played for Sri Lanka in an ODI on their 2019 tour of South Africa, in Cape Town.
Upul Tharanga played 235 ODIs and scored 6951 runs at 33.74 with 15 centuries and 37 fifties.
Tharanga played 31 Tests for Sri Lanka, scoring 1754 runs at an average of 21.89, including three centuries and eight fifties.
He made his Test debut in Ahmedabad against India in December 2005 and played his last, too, against the same opposition in Pallekele in 2017.
The 36-year old batsman in the 2011 World Cup, hosted by India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka – a tournament in which he forged a prolific opening stand with Tillakaratne Dilshan. Tharanga managed 395 runs in nine matches at 56.43 with two centuries and a half-century.
