‘CSK’ got a big blow before IPL 2024, ‘Ben Stokes’ withdrew his name

IPL 2024, Ben Stokes: Record 5-time IPL winner CSK included Stokes in their team for a huge sum of Rs 16.25 crore in the IPL 2023 auction.

IPL Season 2024 Ben Stokes withdrew his name :-

But before IPL 2024, MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has suffered a big blow. Actually, England’s superstar all-rounder Ben Stokes has reportedly withdrawn his name from the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2024 to manage his workload and fitness. “We support Ben in his decision,” the franchise said in a statement on its website. However, CSK has not said whether they will release Stokes or not.

CSK has this option :-

If they do not release Stokes, the Super Kings will have the option to retain him ahead of the mega auction for IPL 2025. And if they release him by Sunday i.e. November 26, then Super Kings can use the Rs 16.25 for which they bought him in the auction.

One reason for Stokes withdrawing his name from IPL 2024 is that at the end of the World Cup 2023, Stokes had revealed that he would undergo knee surgery, a step he had been delaying for some time. Depending on his rehabilitation, Stokes and the ECB will decide the timeline for his return.

Stokes can play in the test match against India in January :-

Apart from this, England’s Test captain Stokes is hopeful of touring India for the five-Test series running from January 25 to March 11.

Ben Stokes said after England’s last game at the World Cup, “I have worked very hard away from cricket to give myself the best chance of a quick recovery. With Christmas coming up, the main thing for me is this knee. Getting it right, being ready and raring to go for that Test series in India next year.
