Nepal’s star cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has once again been dropped from his country’s cricket team. He will not play in the tri-series of the Cricket World Cup League 2. Sandeep accused of sexually abusing a minor girl and is out on bail. Sandeep not allowed to go abroad as per the bail conditions. For this reason, he is out of his country’s team. Apart from Nepal, teams from UAE and Papua New Guinea also included in the tri-series. This series is to be held in Dubai.

Efforts were being made to change the bail conditions of leg-spin bowler Sandeep. In such a situation, he expected to play in the tri-series. However, Lamichhane’s name did not figure in the 15-member squad announced by the Nepal Cricket Association for the series. Nepal’s first match in the tri-series will be against PNG in Dubai on Monday.

Apart from Nepal, the team of Scotland and Namibia were included in the series

Last week, in another Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series, Lamichhane took 13 wickets in four matches. His stellar performance helped Nepal win all the four matches. He took three wickets in all three matches before taking four in the final match against Scotland. Apart from Nepal, the team of Scotland and included in this series. Scotland’s players refused to shake Lamichhane’s hand after the match, while Namibia decided to punch rather than shake hands after one of their matches. Last year, an arrest warrant issued against Lamichhane after he accused of sexual abuse and suspended by Nepal Cricket. He detained by the police and later granted bail. After this, Nepal Cricket lifted his suspension earlier this month. After the suspension lifted, Lamichhane played for Nepal in the tri-series against Namibia and Scotland.


Nepal is at the sixth position in the seven-team Cricket World Cup League 2 league table. Lamichhane has taken 55 wickets in the competition. He is the highest wicket-taker for Nepal and is third in terms of wickets in the league.
