CWG 2022: Indian women’s cricket team created history by defeating England in the semi-finals to secure a medal

Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women’s cricket team continues its strong performance in the Commonwealth Games 2022. India created history by winning the semi-final match of women’s cricket on Saturday and ensured the silver medal. India beat England by 4 runs in this match. The Indian team has reached the final, where they will take on the winner of the second semi-final Australia vs New Zealand for the gold. The final match will be played on 7 August. Let us tell you that for the first time women’s cricket has been included in the Commonwealth Games.

England needed 14 in 6 balls

After winning the toss, India set a target of 165 runs in front of England, in response to which England scored 160 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Sneh Rana took two wickets and Deepti Sharma took one wicket for India. At the same time, three players from England returned to the pavilion after being run out. England needed 14 runs to win in the last over but the hosts could collect only 9 runs. For India, Sneh Rana bowled very intelligently in the 20th over. He conceded only 3 runs in the first five balls. However, Sophie Ecclestone hit a six off the last ball.

Natalie Siever scored the most runs

Chasing the target, England made a slow start. Opener Sophia Dunkley (19 off 10 balls) Danielle Wyatt (35 in 27 balls) shared a 28-run partnership for the first wicket. Dunkley was lbw in the third over by Deepti. The second blow to England came in the form of Alice Capsi (13 off 8 balls), who was run out in the seventh over. Wyatt was bowled in the ninth over by Snell, giving India a big relief.

However, Natalie Sievers (41 off 43 balls) and Amy Jones (31 off 24 balls) put on a 54-run stand for the fourth wicket to create trouble for India. However, England were dealt a big blow after Jones was run out in the 19th over of 18th over. Katherine Brunt (0) became a victim of affection on the third ball of the last over. At the same time, Maya Bouchier (4) and Sophie Ecclestone (7) remained unbeaten.
