David Warner and Mitchell Marsh mention notable omissions in Australia’s 16-man squad for the Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka, while coach Justin Langer will also be absent.

The Five-Match T20 Series :-

There was a dilemma that the selectors might be forced to pick different teams for those white-ball games and the upcoming three-Test series in Pakistan starting March 3.

David Warner, Mitch Marsh, and Justin Langer will miss T20s

This has not happened, although Justin Langer is among the members of the support staff going on leave during the T20I series.

Andrew McDonald will serve as head coach in Justin’s absence, as was the case during New Zealand’s T20 tour last year.

Warner and Mitchell Marsh, who played a key role in Australia’s T20 World Cup win in the United Arab Emirates, will also play five T20Is before traveling to Pakistan.

The Arrival in Test Cricket in Pakistan :-

Legspinner Mitchell Swepson, who is set to make his Test debut in Pakistan, is the other member of Australia’s T20 World Cup squad that was dropped from the nominated squad on Tuesday.

Fit-again pacer Josh Hazlewood is set to return from his side strain at the time of the T20I series, while Travis Head’s resultant red-ball form has resulted in a T20 call-up.

BBL player of the tournament Ben McDermott, Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques and pacer Jhye Richardson have also been included in the T20 squad.

“The team will begin preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup defense at home later this year and will feature a number of players who have an early opportunity to charge,” said chairman of selectors George Bailey.

“David Warner and Mitchell Marsh will miss the purpose of preparing for the Pakistan tour.

“Justin Langer and several other core support staff will take assigned leave to prepare for the Pakistan tour.”

Cricket Australia (CA) is expected to make a decision on Langer’s future in the coming weeks.

Langer’s current contract expires soon after the tour of Pakistan.
