Former Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor has revealed that the ICC is contemplating a “multi-year ban” on his international career. Because they have taken almost 4 months to report a corrupt approach “by an Indian businessman” for almost half the delay.

Taylor delayed reporting that meeting in India. Because he said, he wanted to protect his family. He described the substance abuse that occurred during that meeting in a statement on Twitter. About which he says that he was allegedly blackmailed. “We drank and in the evening he openly offered me cocaine, which he himself was engaged in, and I foolishly took the bait,” Taylor said the men he had met broke into his hotel room the next day, and threatened to release a substance abuse video unless he did spot-fixing for them. He was given USD 15,000 – which he said he took to flee India – and said it was deposited for future payments once fixed.
“It took me 4 months to report the offense and negotiate with the ICC,” Taylor said. “I accept that it was a very long time, but I felt I could protect everyone, and especially my family. I approached the ICC on my own terms and I hoped that if I had addressed my plight, our Told about their real fear for the safety and well-being so that they can understand the delay.

Taylor also said that he was “never involved in any form of match-fixing. But I can do many things but I am not a cheater. My respect for cricket and my love for the game is greater than any other.” I can also overcome the danger that can be thrown in my path.”
The ICC has yet to comment on Taylor’s statement, and if he does – as he said – face a ban on his international cricket career, it is worth noting that he does not have much at the moment. He retired from international cricket in September last year. Cricket, after a career spanning 17 years.

Taylor revealed that he will be “checking into the rehabilitation center” from January 25 to deal with substance abuse.

Taylor captained Zimbabwe in 71 games between 2011 and 2021 across the three formats. He was full-time captain between mid-2011 and mid-2014. Before Zimbabwe went the split captaincy route. Taylor remained in charge only in Test cricket. Then, at the end of the 2015 World Cup, he retired from international and went to the UK on a Kolpak deal aged 29. In late 2017, he ended his Kolpak deal and returned to Zimbabwean cricket.
