“Do not scratch your eyes,” says Twitter user after Sydney Thunder gets out for 15

Sydney Thunder entered the cricket record books in the most unwanted fashion on Friday after being bowled out for just 15. In their Big Bash League game against the Adelaide Strikers – the lowest T20 score in history. Chasing a target of 140, the Thunder’s innings collapsed with just one ball to spare in six overs, with five of their players failing to trouble the scorers.

Fast bowler Brendan Doggett scored the maximum four runs. For the Strikers, Henry Thornton was one of the Strikers bowlers taking five wickets conceding only three runs. The collapse of the Thunder sparked a meme fest on Twitter.

For the Thunder, Fazalhaq Farooqui took 3 wickets, while Gurinder Sandhu, Daniel Sams and Brendan Doggett took 2 each as the Strikers posted 139/9 in 20 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat.

The previous lowest BBL score was 57 by Melbourne Renegades in 2015 –

Quite shockingly, the Thunder have one of the best batsmen in the world when it comes to T20s. They are Alex Hales, Riley Rossouw who are some of the top T20 stars in the world and despite their presence the team was bowled out for just 15 runs.

For the record, the previous lowest BBL score was 57 by Melbourne Renegades in 2015 while Turkey’s 21 against Czech Republic in 2019 was the lowest overall.
