England Cricket Board (ECB) allows fast bowler Ollie Robinson to play cricket again

England fast bowler Olly Robinson has got a big relief. Ollie Robinson was banned last month for his old racist tweets. The England and Wales Cricket Board has now approved Ollie Robinson to play. The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed

The ECB said that a decision has been taken on the matter related to Robinson. The ECB issued a statement saying, “The Cricket Disciplinary Commission has announced its decision regarding the two charges against Robinson.”

Robinson was found guilty of violating ECB directives 3.3 and 3.4. The board said, “Robinson accepted the allegations of violation of ECB directives 3.3 and 3.4. His tweets were between 2012 and 2014 when he was 18 and 20 years old. These tweets surfaced on 2 June 2021 when he was in England. He was playing his first Test match.

Robinson’s ban is over

The ECB held a hearing on 30 June in which it was decided to ban him for eight matches. “After a hearing on June 30, the Commission decided to suspend Robinson for eight matches, five of which would be for two years,” the statement said.

Robinson, however, has now got permission to play cricket. “He has already been out of three matches. He is now free to play cricket with immediate effect,” the board said.

Robinson had to face a lot of criticism for his tweets. Robinson, however, gave an amazing performance in his debut Test against New Zealand. Robinson managed to take seven wickets in his first match. Robinson’s selection for the five-Test series against India to be played in August-September is almost certain.
