Opener Prithvi Shaw and middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav were called up for India‘s Test squad for the five-match series against England starting 4 August as replacements to injured players Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar.

Abhimanyu Easwaran added

Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran, who was on the stand-by and has been added to the main squad with stand-by. Pacer Avesh Khan also going back home with a fractured left thumb.

All-rounder Washington Sundar had taken an injection on his right-hand bowling finger. However, his recovery will take longer than expected and he is not bowling-fit, BCCI said

Avesh Khan suffered a blow to his left thumb-

Avesh Khan has a fractured thumb that won’t allow him to participate in the tour.

“Fast bowler Avesh Khan suffered a blow to his left thumb on Day 1 of the warm-up game. Khan was taken for an X-Ray. The result confirmed a fracture,” BCCI said. The specialist was consulted for his injury.

A senior BCCI official had earlier said that both players (Surya and Shaw) would have a bubble to bubble transfer from Colombo to London.
