ENG vs IRE Test 2023: Ollie Pope scored the fastest double century on England’s soil in Tests
Ollie Pope, fastest double century: The second day’s play of the only Test match being played between England and Ireland (ENG vs IRE Only Test Match) ended. England declared the first innings by scoring 524 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. Ireland have scored 97 runs for 3 wickets till the second day in the second innings.
Ollie Pope scored a double century :-
Ben Duckett, playing fast, was dismissed for 182, while Ollie Pope played a brilliant inning of 205 runs in 208 balls. Pope has now become the fastest player to score a double century in Test cricket on English soil. Joe Root contributed 56 runs for the team. England captain Ben Stokes declared the innings after Oli Pope’s double century.
Josh Tongue took three wickets :-
England took a solid lead of 354 runs on the basis of Ireland’s first innings. At the same time, till the end of the second day’s play, Ireland has scored 97 runs losing 3 wickets. Harry Tector (33) and Lorcan Tucker (21) are standing at the crease. The team is still 255 runs behind on the basis of England’s first innings. Josh Tongue took three wickets in Ireland’s second innings.
