In the end, David Miller scored an unbeaten 24 runs in 14 balls. As South Africa scored a mammoth total of 333 runs in 50 overs, losing 5 wickets. During this, Liam Livingstone took 2 wickets for England. While Sam Curran, Moeen Ali and Brydon Kars took 1-1 wickets.

England falter after a good start

In reply, the England team had a big target of 334 runs. They got off to a good start and the top three batsmen kept their hopes up while batting well. Jason Roy scored 43 runs, while Jonny Bairstow scored 63 runs and Joe Root scored 86 runs. But after that the innings went on faltering and no other batsman was able to cross the team. As a result, the entire English team was reduced to 271 runs in 46.5 overs. Anrich Norkea took 4 wickets for South Africa. While Shamsi and Markram took 2-2 wickets, Ngidi and Keshav Maharaj took 1-1.

Along with this, the ODI career of a great England all-rounder Ben Stokes also came to an end. Stokes, who had announced his retirement from one-day international cricket. In which he could not take a single wicket while conceding 44 runs.
