ENG vs WI, ODI: The three-match ODI series between West Indies and England on Caribbean soil started on Sunday 3 December. In the first match of the series itself, the host team pulled off a big upset and won the match by 4 wickets.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the England team put 325 runs on the board in the stipulated 50 overs on the basis of a brilliant half-century by Harry Brook (71). This was being said to be a good start for England after their poor performance during the World Cup 2023 in India. However, this hard work of the batsmen was ruined by their bowlers.

West Indies achieved this score with 7 balls and 4 wickets remaining and took a 1-0 lead in the series. Captain Shay Hope managed to play an unbeaten inning of 109 runs in 83 balls with the help of 4 fours and 7 skyscraper sixes. In this run chase, he got the support of opening batsman Alick Athanaje who scored 66 runs.
