Edgbaston: Those who watched the recently concluded Test series against New Zealand had come to know that the England team will play with an aggressive attitude under the supervision of new coach Brendon McCullum. This was also confirmed in the rescheduled fifth and final Test between India and England. The huge target of 378 runs by India was achieved by 3 Lions for the loss of only three wickets. With this, the five-Test series between the two teams ended in a 2-2 draw.

The Indian team was in a very strong position in this test. The visiting team got a lead of 132 runs on the basis of first innings. But in the second innings, the performance of the batsmen was not strong and the entire team was all out after scoring 245 runs. But chasing the target of 378 runs is not easy in any condition. Joe Root (142 *) and Jonny Bairstow (114 *) thrashed the Indian bowlers and sealed England’s victory in the very first session.

England chased down their best target in Test cricket. And chased down a target of 359 against Australia at Leeds, their previous best run chase, before chasing 378 against India.
The successful chase of 378 runs is the biggest in Test cricket against India. Earlier in 1977 in Perth, Australia chased down the target of 339 runs, which was the biggest run chase.

378 runs is the eighth highest successful run chase in the history of Test cricket.
England have performed brilliantly in Test cricket over the past month. Becoming the first team to successfully chase down 250 or more in four consecutive innings.
