England coach Brendon McCullum has shown confidence in Zak Crawley and said he will be with the out-of-form opener for the second Test against South Africa in Manchester.
Managed scores of just nine and 13:-
Crowley managed scores of just nine and 13 during England’s extensive defeat to the Proteas in the opening Test at Lord’s and is yet to register a half-century for his country from 10 innings this summer.

But McCullum has shown faith in the right-hander and believes the 24-year-old should show patience ahead of the second Test at Old Trafford starting on Thursday.
“You have to think about the overall package,” said McCullum:-
“We have some players who have been placed in those positions because they have certain skill-sets.” I look up to a guy like Zak and his skill set is not to be a consistent cricketer. He is not that type of player.
“He is in that position because he has a game, when he gets going, he can win matches for England.”
England was knocked out by their opponents to maintain their position at the top of the ICC World Test Championship standings with an innings and 12-run win over South Africa during the first Test at Lord’s.
But McCullum denied those suggestions, saying the long-term benefits of showing loyalty in selection far outweigh any short-term fix.
May their skills and talents come to the fore:-
“That’s not how I think,” he said. “We want to keep giving opportunities to people, then their skills and talents can come to the fore.
“We have to be really positive about the language used with him and really be in line with the choices around him to keep giving people opportunities.

“Selection loyalty is really important. Not only does it building loyalty from people on the side. But it also builds loyalty from people on the outside. Because they know they’ll be giving the same loyalty when their opportunity comes.”
