First time Indian female cricketer failed in dope test and banned for 4 years

Indian women’s cricketer Anshula Rao has failed the doping test. Before this, to date, no player of the Indian women’s team has failed this test. This is the First time Indian female cricketer failed in dope test. Taking action on this matter, NADA has banned a female player for 4 years.

According to the news of the Times of India, the NADA panel has imposed a 4-year ban on the player. Anshula Rao, who has participated in various tournaments for MP, has been found guilty of consuming banned substances to enhance performance. She last entered the Under-23 tournament in 2019-20. She was suspended in March last year for consuming a banned substance. The players could not give correct information in this case.

Apart from the four-year ban, Anshula was asked to pay 2400 euros (approximately Rs 2 lakh) for her B sample test. Before this incident, this has hardly been done with any player, from whom money has been asked for Tests. Actually, two samples of Anshula Rao were sent to Belgium for investigation. Prohibited substances were found in it. In her defense before the panel, Anshula Rao said that “almost 4 months have passed between the dope test and the allegation made by NADA”.

Anshula could not even present her explanation. Whereas if you remember, in the year 2019, NADA had also banned Prithvi Shaw for 8 months because he failed the doping test. But Shaw had clarified on this and told that his father had asked him to make syrup for cold and cough and he inadvertently consumed the banned substance. However, Shaw was not asked to pay for the testing.
