‘Format is getting boring’, Sachin Tendulkar suggests major changes in ODI cricket

T20 cricket is dominant all over the world. T20 franchise cricket is also succeeding in spreading its shine. Meanwhile, the 50-over format is fighting for its survival. Cricket has become such a busy schedule that now players have started choosing one format. Batting great Sachin Tendulkar on Friday lamented the waning interest in ODI cricket and said that the format is definitely getting boring and dominated by the bowlers.

Tendulkar said –

“No doubt it is getting boring. The current format uses two new balls per innings. When you are using two new balls, you are eliminating reverse swing.”

Tendulkar further said – “Even if we are in the 40th over of the match, the ball is already 20 overs old. After 30 overs, the ball starts reverse swinging. With the new balls, this thing is dying out. My Feel that the current format is dominated by bowlers. Now the match has become very predictable. It is losing its rhythm from 15th to 40th over. It is getting boring.”

Sachin Tendulkar is of the view that there is no harm in keeping the 50-over format alive. Teams should change batting and bowling after every 25 overs. This will give the opposing team a chance to equalize. Toss, dew and other conditions have to be removed from it.

Master Blaster said – “So both the teams should bowl in the first and second half. Well, it will also be beneficial as there will be three breaks instead of two.”

Let us tell you that the three Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia ended within three days. There was a lot of criticism of the pitches during this period, but Tendulkar said that it is the responsibility of the cricketers that they have to play on different pitches.

The legendary batsman has also appealed that in order to maintain the charm of Test cricket, one should not see in how many days the match is over, but how many people watch it.
