Hayden, Philander appointed as advisory coach of PCB T20.

Former Australian batsman Matthew Hayden and South African pacer Vernon Philander have been appointed by the Pakistan Cricket Board as consultant coaches for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Hayden and Philander will replace Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis on a temporary basis. And this announcement was made by Rameez Raja, the newly appointed chairman of PCB.

No coaching experience-

While Hayden and Philander will be tasked with batting and bowling respectively at the World Cup in Dubai. While Pakistan is yet to formalize a long-term coaching plan. And these will see Saqlain Mushtaq and Abdul Razzaq on an interim basis for the series against New Zealand. Revealed that the two new coaches will be working alongside a new head coach. Hayden and Philander have no coaching experience.

“Matthew Hayden is Australian, and he has the experience of winning the World Cup and was a great player himself,” Ramiz said on Monday (September 13).

Australian occupying the dressing room can be very rewarding. And Pakistan can definitely win the World Cup. And they just need to improve their performance by that extra 10%. Vernon Philander I know very well, And he understands bowling because he has a great record against Australia.

Hayden has significant experience of winning silverware, given his role as part of the dominant Australia sides of the 2000s – he has two ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup trophies in his cabinet. He was also the highest run-getter of the 2007 Men’s T20 World Cup, with 265 runs in six matches. 

Philander, who retired last year with 269 international wickets.
