Hobart Snap Lockdown Creates Uncertainty Over WBBL, Marsh Cup Goes Ahead After Delay

The WBBL is in a state of flux after the city of Hobart Snape. Which is set to host four matches over the weekend. Went into a three-day lockdown from 6 pm on Friday.

The Perth Scorchers announced on Friday that they would delay their trip by 24 hours, with their first match scheduled for Sunday in Hobart. They originally stayed in Perth due to the lack of training facilities in Hobart, as seven other teams were already there.

No Word yet on Any Possible Schedule Changes Following the News of the Snap Lockdown

The first 20 matches of the WBBL are to be played in Tasmania. And then the tournament is to be played in Adelaide, Perth and Mackay in Queensland. But there is no word yet on any possible schedule changes following the news of the snap lockdown with WBBL issuing a statement on Friday afternoon.

“We are working with the Tasmanian government on options for the upcoming Webber WBBL 07 matches this weekend at Blundstone Arena in Hobart,” the statement said.

Staff and Match Officials for WBBL Have Received Covid-19 Vaccination

“All players, staff and match officials in Tasmania for the Webber WBBL have received a Covid-19 vaccination. And negative covid-19 test result required. All are currently attending training at Blundstone Arena or team hotels.

“The league will provide further updates in due course.”

Hobart puted into lockdown after a Covid-19 case emerged in a Covid-free state following a violation. Tasmania Premier Peter Gutwin announced that if the WBBL continued they would have to do so without crowds.
