How did Deodhar Trophy get its name? This tournament completed 50 years in 2023

The prestigious tournament of domestic cricket is currently being played against the Deodhar Trophy. After the year 2019, this Deodhar was organized in the year 2023. 50 years have been completed since the beginning of this Deodhar. This year the matches in this tournament are being played in round robin format between 6 teams.

Who started the Deodhar Trophy?

It was started by prof. It was done by DV Deodhar, who is also known as Grand Old Man of Indian Cricket. This was named after him. Let us tell you that India played its first Test match in 1932 and during that time a 40-year-old player was not given a chance in the team. Despite being associated with cricket from around 1910, he was the only Indian cricketer who did not play a single Test.

Deodhar captained the Maharashtra team in Ranji Trophy :-

Deodhar captained the Maharashtra team in the Ranji Trophy from 1939-41. He scored 4522 runs in first class cricket match with best score of 246. Deodhar is one of those cricketers who got a chance to play first class cricket before the First World War and also after the Second World War. Deodhar was made the President of the Maharashtra Cricket Association and later the Vice President and Selector of the BCCI. He left the world in 1993 at the age of 101.
