International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the Player of the month nomination for June 2021

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the players nominated for the Player of the Month award for the best performance of men and women cricketers in all formats of international cricket for the month of June 2021.

ICC Women’s Player of the Month June 2021 Nominees:

India’s aggressive young batter Shafali Verma has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month. Apart from Shefali, the name of all-rounder Sneh Rana and Sophie Ecclestone from England has also been nominated for this award. Both these players performed brilliantly in the recently concluded series in England.

Shafali Verma (India)

17-year-old Shafali scored 96 and 63 runs in both innings in her brilliant Test debut against England. Shafali Verma was given the Player of the Match award in her debut match itself. Shafali became the first player in India and the fourth player in the world to score half-centuries in both the debut Test innings. Her first innings score is the highest score by an Indian woman on debut. She also scored 59 runs in two ODIs against England at a strike rate of 85.50.

Sneh Rana (India)

All-rounder Sneh also made a memorable Test debut in Bristol, scoring an unbeaten 80 off 154 balls in the second innings as the Indian team was able to draw the match while playing the follow-on. She also took four wickets for 131 runs in England’s innings. She also took one wicket for 43 runs in the One Day International match against the same team.

Sophie Ecclestone (England)

The left-arm spinner was the most successful bowler in the one-off Test against India, took eight wickets for 206 runs at an average of 25.75. Taking four wickets in each innings of a Test match, She took three wickets in each of the two ODIs during the month, her six wickets at an average of 12.16 and an economy rate of 3.65.

ICC Men’s Player of the Month June 2021 Nominees:

In the men’s category, the names of New Zealand batsman Devon Conway and fast bowler Kyle Jamieson, apart from South Africa’s Quinton de Kock have been sent for this award.

Devon Conway (New Zealand)

In the men’s section, Conway scored a double century while debuting at Lord’s in June. He scored two half-centuries in the next two Tests, including the ICC World Test Championship final against India. He scored 379 runs at an average of 63.16.

Quinton de Kock (South Africa)

De Kock became the player of the series against the West Indies. He scored an unbeaten 141 in the first test and 96 runs in the second test. In three T20Is against the same side, he scored 135 runs at a strike rate of 142.10.

Kyle Jamieson (New Zealand)

Jamieson was the World Test Champion player of the match in the final. He took seven wickets for 61 runs in the match. Apart from dismissing Indian captain Virat Kohli in both the innings, he also dismissed Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Rishabh Pant. He took 10 wickets in two Tests in June at an average of 17.40.
