The FTP outlines the international cricket calendar, which includes ICC events and bilateral international series.

The 12 members in the 2023–2027 FTP cycle will play a total of 777 international matches – 173 Tests, 281 ODIs, and 323 T20Is – compared to 694 currently.
This includes the next two cycles of the ICC Men’s World Test Championship, several ICC events, and several bilateral as well as tri-series actions.
ICC GM of Cricket Wasim Khan said: “I want to thank our members for the effort they put into building this FTP for the next four years. We are incredibly fortunate that we have three live formats of the game.
With an excellent program of ICC global events and strong bilateral and domestic cricket, this FTP is designed to allow all cricket to flourish.
Two sets of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Test series:-
A major highlight of the FTP is two sets of five-match Border–Gavaskar Test series in each of the upcoming cycles of the ICC World Test Championship.
A tough contest in recent times, Australia is set to welcome India for a five-match series in the 2023-25 cycle of the WTC, while a reciprocal tour is to be played in the 2025-27 cycle.
This will be the first time in more than 30 years that the two sides will meet in a five-match Test series, the last being in 1992.
Australia great Ricky Ponting used the latest episode of ICC Review to laud the decision to make the Border-Gavaskar Trophy battle a five-match series.
“I think the spectators from Australia and India and probably anyone who loves the game around the world would have loved to see more Test matches between Australia and India.
Ponting tells host Sanjana Ganesan on ICC review:-
So I think it’s a great initiative and more importantly, I think all the players will really enjoy it too,” Ponting told host Sanjana Ganesan on the ICC review.
“The thing about the Australia-India series is that the conditions we play in are very different and very contrasting.
“When India comes to Australia, they get fast, bouncy wickets which give something to the fast bowlers.
“And then when Australia goes to India it’s with a lot of spins and a lot of reverse swing bowling.
“So I think the contrast is what the players really like and what the fans would like to see.”
Like the current WTC cycle, the Ashes, as well as the England-India Test series, will be contested over five matches during the upcoming FTP.
England, Australia, and India will be playing the most number of Test matches during the cycle. As they are set to play 22, 21 and 20 five-day games respectively.
Also includes five major ICC events:-
The upcoming cycle of FTP also includes five major ICC events, starting with next year’s Cricket World Cup in India.
West Indies and the USA will be hosting the T20 World Cup in 2024. Followed by the return of the Champions Trophy to be hosting by Pakistan in 2025.

India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the T20 World Cup in 2026. And the 2027 Cricket World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia will conclude the FTP cycle.
The white-ball bilateral and tri-series will have higher stakes as they will be counting in the respective team rankings. Which in turn will help decide which teams will qualify for ICC events.
