A report by Telegraph was claiming that both BCCI President Sourav Ganguly & Secretary Jay Shah are interest to be the next ICC Chairman. The report claims Ganguly and Shah face-off is in offing as current chairman Greg Barclay has decided not to extend his term.

Report by leading Kolkata daily suggest that- Two BCCI big shots in Ganguly and Shah are leading the race to become the successor of Barclay.

The BCCI is looking for a repeat win

India won the World Cup in 2011. The BCCI is looking for a repeat win of that. With either Ganguly or Shah heading the ICC when ODI World Cup once again gets host by India in 2023.

The President was the highest position in ICC

Till 2014, the President was the highest position in ICC. There have been two Indian presidents in the past in ICC, Whereas Jagmohan Dalmiya (1997-2000), and Sharad Pawar (2010-2012)

India won the 2011 ICC World Cup with Pawar at the helm in ICC.
The regulations of ICC were updated in 2014, which saw a new position being created called the Chairman, and two Indians have occupied the chairman’s seat so far in ICC – N Srinivasan (2014-2015), and Shashank Manohar (2015-2020).
