Nigar Sultana will lead Bangladesh’s 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers starting September 18 in Abu Dhabi.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday announced a 15-man squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers to be held in the United Arab Emirates from September 18-25.

Right-arm pacer Marufa Akhtar, who came in place of Suriya Azmin, was the only new face on the Nigaar Sultana Joti-led side, where Jahanara Alam also returned to the team to replace Fariha Islam.
The top two teams will ensure their place in the main event:-
The eight teams have been divided into two groups and the top two teams will ensure their place in the main event, which will be played in South Africa in February-March 2023.
Group A consists of Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, and the USA, while Group B consists of Thailand, Zimbabwe, PNG, and the UAE.
Bang and Thailand made it to the qualifiers based on their ICC women’s team rankings when they participated in the previous edition of the T20 World Cup in 2020.
Bangladesh has qualified thrice:-
Bang will start the tournament as one of its favourites. In four qualifying events in the past, Bangladesh has qualified three times – twice as winners and once as runners-up.
Bangladesh women’s team will play their first match against Ireland on 18 September and will then take on Scotland and USA on 19 and 21 September respectively.
The team will travel to Abu Dhabi on September 8 for a pre-event conditioning camp.
