Axar Patel: On track to return to Indian team in time for World Cup

Akshar’s unavailability has raised hopes that Ravichandran Ashwin, who replaced the left-arm spinner, could potentially feature in the World Cup. Ashwin has shown excellent form in the first two ODIs. He has taken four wickets and, in particular, has displayed top-class bowling skills which have troubled the Australian batsmen. Due to this, demands have started to be raised to include him in the World Cup team. BCCI sources say Axar was selected ahead of Ashwin. He is on track to return to the Indian team in time for the World Cup.

The selectors have not announced Akshar’s replacement for the upcoming game

Akshar may be ready for the World Cup practice matches. Due to this, Ajit Agarkar & Company may be in a serious dilemma. However, at this stage, Ashwin’s prospects look promising and the selectors have not announced Akshar’s replacement for the upcoming games.
