The third match of the Test series between India and Australia is being played in Indore. In this match, the Indian team batting first after winning the toss performed very poorly and India’s first innings was reduced to 109 runs. The spin bowlers were getting a lot of help from the very first day at the Holkar Stadium and the Australian spinners took advantage of it.

The spin duo of Nathan Lyon and Matthew Kuhnmann put in a stellar performance. Together they took eight wickets. Kuhnman took five wickets and Nathan Lyon took three wickets.

Matthew Hayden Expressed his Disappointment With the Pitch

In the second session of the first day itself, the Indian innings was reduced to 109 runs. Commenting on this during the match, former Australia batsman Matthew Hayden expressed his disappointment about the pitch and said that such pitches are not good for Test cricket.
The spin bowlers were getting help from the first session of the first day in Indore. In such a situation, Australian captain Steve Smith brought spin bowlers to bowl in the sixth over itself.

To this Matthew Hayden said “No way spinners should come in the sixth over to bowl. That’s why I don’t like surfaces like this. It shouldn’t be kept so low and it shouldn’t turn so much on the first day” . It doesn’t matter whether Australia wins this Test or India. Such surfaces are not good for Test cricket.”

At This Pace I Feel Sorry For the Fans

Matthew Hayden further said that you are allowed to play a Test match of four-five days. At this rate I feel sorry for the fans, I don’t think this Test will last past the fourth day.

After the end of the first day’s play, Australia has a lead of 47 runs with six wickets remaining. In this match Indian captain Rohit Sharma decided to bat first. However, Team India was reduced to just 109 runs in the first innings. In response, Australia has scored 156 runs for four wickets till the end of the first day’s play.
