At the time of stumps, Yashasvi was unbeaten on 179 runs in 257 balls. He has hit 17 fours and 5 sixes in his innings so far. Yashasvi has broken a wonderful record of former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin. He has become the joint second Indian player to score the most runs in a one-day game in Test against England. Azharuddin had scored 175 runs at Manchester in 1990.
Yashasvi Jaiswal also achieved the following achievements:-
Yashasvi has equaled former legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar had added 179 runs at The Oval in 1979. The record of adding most runs in a day against England is held in the name of Karun Nair. He scored 232 runs at the Chennai stadium in 2016.
At the same time, Yashasvi has reached fifth position in the list of Indian players who scored the most runs on the first day of the Test. Former explosive opener Virender Sehwag is at the top in this list.
