Ashwin has won 11 Player of the Series awards in his career spanning almost 13 years. This is the most by any Indian player and second overall after Muttiah Muralitharan.
In 99 Test matches so far, Ashwin has won nine Player of the Match awards, the fourth-best among Indian players. In this matter, Sachin Tendulkar is on top with 14 Player of the Match awards.

According to the number of innings, Ashwin holds the record of being the fastest Indian bowler to take 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450 and 500 wickets in Tests. He is also at the forefront of taking fastest 250, 300 and 350 wickets in Test history.
In his career, Ashwin has taken 50 or more wickets in the same calendar year four times – 54 wickets in 2021, 56 wickets in 2017, 72 wickets in 2016 and 62 wickets in 2015. This is the highest feat by an Indian bowler and the fifth highest overall. Overall, Shane Warne (7), Muralitharan (6), Glenn McGrath (5), and Rangana Herath (4) are at first, second, third and fourth positions in this list.

Ashwin is the only Indian cricketer who has made the record of taking a century and five wickets in the same Test match thrice in his career. He did this for the first time in 2011 against West Indies in Mumbai, taking 5 wickets for 103 runs and 156 runs. After this, for the second time in 2016 in Antigua, West Indies, Ashwin took 7 wickets for 113 runs and 83 runs. The third time he did it was against England in Chennai in 2021 when he took 5 wickets for 43 runs and 106 runs in his name.
