Sunil Gavaskar did not look happy with Sarfaraz Khan’s shot selection on the second day of the 5th Test between India and England. Sarfaraz Khan was batting brilliantly against England, but after tea time he lost his wicket by playing an irresponsible shot.
Just after the tea break, Sarfaraz Khan went for a cut shot on the first ball due to which he was out at slip. Sarfaraz was well set, batting on 56 and also had a 97-run partnership with debutant Devdutt Padikkal. However, he missed the opportunity to convert his innings into a century.
Sarfaraz Khan had made Mark Wood his target :-
Sarfaraz Khan came to bat when James Anderson made Shubman Gill his 699th Test victim. After the dismissal of Rohit and Gill, the entire responsibility of handling the Indian innings was on Sarfaraz and Padikkal.
After the third wicket fell at the score of 279, Sarfaraz and Padikkal took their time and after getting set, Sarfaraz started playing aggressive strokes. He attacked against England’s fastest bowler Mark Wood and hit three fours and a six in his two overs. But when this partnership started looking dangerous, Sarfaraz threw his wicket.

Angry Sunil Gavaskar said during commentary :-
Sunil Gavaskar, angry at the wicket of Sarfaraz Khan, said during the commentary, “The ball was pitched high, it was not a shot that you could play that kind of shot and he paid the price for it. I mean, you are the first bowler after the tea break. When you are playing ball, give yourself some time. Don Bradman told me, ‘Every ball I face, I think that I am at 0 even if I am at 200’.”
