IND vs ENG, Test: Shoaib Bashir was in the center of attention due to visa delays before reaching India for the five-Test series. Due to the 20-year-old’s Pakistani heritage, he needed to fly back to the UK instead of Abu Dhabi to get his visa stamped.

IND vs ENG, Test: Was out of first test due to delay in getting visa :-

After being ruled out of the first Test due to delay in getting a visa, Bashir was present with Ben Stokes and company in the dressing room of the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium when England registered a historic 28-run win over the Indian team.

However, despite the delay, Bashir, after finally making his Test debut for England, admitted that he had no doubts about coming to India.

At the end of the first day’s play in Visakhapatnam, Shoaib Bashir said :-

“I had no doubt that I would get here,” he told reporters at the end of the first day’s play in Visakhapatnam. “I always knew I would get the visa. It was a bit troublesome but I am here now and I have to debut. I knew it would be resolved, so thanks to the ECB and BCCI for resolving it quickly.”

Let us tell you that Bashir took two wickets by the end of the first day of play of the second test in which Rohit Sharma became his first and Axar Patel became his second victim.

Bashir said on dismissing Rohit Sharma :-

Bashir said on dismissing Rohit Sharma, “It is very special to get Rohit out first, he is a very good player of spin – one of the greatest players in the world.” It’s just passion, I love playing cricket, that’s what I’ve always wanted to do.”

Also, let us tell you that Bashir got the Test cap from his Somerset teammate Jack Leach, who suffered an injury to his left hand during England’s victory in Hyderabad, due to which he was ruled out of the second Test.

IND vs ENG, Test: What did captain Ben Stokes say to Shoaib Bashir :-

Also asked what captain Ben Stokes had told him before taking the field in the second Test, Bashir replied, “He basically just said: ‘Remember why you started playing the game ‘Remember your family, go out there and show what you’ve got. We already know, we’ve already seen you, so go out and do what you do best.’ Those words helped a lot in boosting my confidence.
