IND vs ENG, Test: England batsman Ollie Pope became a one-man army for his team in the second innings of the Hyderabad Test on January 27 and gave a tough test to the Indian bowlers. He remained unbeaten on the third day after scoring 148 runs in 208 balls with the help of 17 fours. This is the fifth century of his Test career. He did the feat of scoring a century for the first time in India.
Rehan Ahmed and Ollie Pope will lead England’s innings on the fourth day :-
This century from Pope’s bat came in difficult conditions. Let us tell you that England scored 246 runs in the first innings and India scored 436 runs. India got a strong lead of 190 runs. At the same time, the England team was seen faltering in the second innings, after which Pope took the lead very well. England scored 316 runs in 77 overs at stumps on the third day. Apart from Ollie Pope, Rehan Ahmed (16 not out) will lead England’s innings on the fourth day.

England made a steady start :-
England made a steady start. Jack Crawley (31) and Ben Duckett (47) added 45 runs for the first wicket. Crawley was out in the 10th over. After this, Ollie Pope, who came out to bat, made a partnership of 68 runs with Duckett. Joe Root (2), Jonny Bairstow (10) and captain Ben Stokes (6) did not bat.
England lost 5 wickets for 163 runs. In such a situation, Pope along with wicketkeeper Ben Fox (34) took England’s innings forward. Both of them made a partnership of 112 runs for the sixth wicket. This partnership was broken by Akshar Patel by bowling Fox in the 67th over.
Second player to score a Test century against Team India on Indian soil:-
Pope scored his century by taking three runs on the second ball of the 61st over bowled by Ravindra Jadeja. Pope is the second player in the last 6 years to score a century in the second innings of a Test match against Team India on Indian soil.
Before him, this feat was accomplished by Sri Lankan Dimuth Karunaratne. Karunaratne had scored 107 runs in the second innings of the Bengaluru Test in 2022. Pope made his Test debut in 2018. Ollie Pope has scored all five of his centuries on different grounds. He touched the 100 mark for the second time in Asia. He has played an inning of 108 runs against Pakistan in Rawalpindi in 2022.
