Indian batsman Shubman Gill, while not giving much importance to the finger injury, said on Monday, February 5 that he has got it ‘scanned’ in which nothing of concern has come up and he will be fine in the next few days.

Gill did not come on the field for fielding due to finger injury :-

Shubman Gill did not take the field on Monday due to an injury to his right index finger in the second Test against England. Sarfaraz Khan fielded in his place. This 24 year old player had scored 104 runs in 147 balls in the second innings. He was India’s top scorer in this innings. He suffered this injury while fielding on Saturday, 3 February.

Gill told the official broadcaster of the match :-

He was seen on the field with his fellow players after India’s 106-run victory in the match. He said that he had gone for a ‘scan’ of the finger.

“I had to go for a scan yesterday to find out the severity of the injury,” Shubman Gill told the match’s official broadcaster. They wanted to know how much pain there was in my finger and how I was feeling.” He said that it would get better soon.

Earlier on Monday morning, the Indian team management said in a statement, “Shubman Gill got injured on the index finger of his right hand while fielding on the second day of the match. He will not take the field today (Monday).
