IND vs ENG, Test: Just a few days before the start of the five-Test series against England, India has suffered a tremendous blow. In fact, India’s star batsman Virat Kohli has been ruled out of the first two Test matches citing personal reasons.

IND vs ENG, Test: BCCI said in a statement :-

“Virat Kohli has requested BCCI to withdraw from the first two Tests of the upcoming Test series against England citing personal reasons,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.

The first Test begins on Thursday, January 25 in Hyderabad and the board said it will announce a replacement soon.

The statement further said :-

The statement further said, “Virat has spoken to captain Rohit Sharma, the team management and selectors and has emphasized that representing the country has always been his top priority, but certain personal circumstances may interfere with his attendance and overall performance. Demands attention.”

BCCI further said “BCCI requests the media and fans to respect Virat Kohli’s privacy during this time and refrain from speculating on the nature of his personal reasons. Everyone’s focus should be on supporting the Indian cricket team to face the upcoming challenges in the Test series.

Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal will start the Indian innings :-

Now talking about the match, Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal will start the Indian innings and Shubman Gill will come at number three. Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are the designated middle-order batsmen. Also, there is still uncertainty about who will wear the wicketkeeping gloves – KL Rahul or KS Bharat.
