Auckland: New Zealand fast bowler Doug Bracewell has been included in the squad for the ODI series against India and Pakistan in place of injured Matt Henry. New Zealand Cricket has also included Jacob Duffy in place of Tim Southee for the tour of India. Matt Henry’s abdominal muscles were stretched on the last day of the second Test against Pakistan in Karachi. They will take two to four weeks to recover from it.
Braswell, who has played 68 international matches for New Zealand, played the last ODI series against the Netherlands in April. He has been performing well with both bat and ball in domestic cricket. He will reach Pakistan on Wednesday. Fast bowler Jacob Duffy has been included in place of Tim Southee for the tour of India. New Zealand will travel to India on 13 January for six white-ball matches. The India tour of New Zealand team will start from the first ODI in Hyderabad on 18 January. After this matches are to be held in Raipur and Indore.
Speaking on Matt Henry, Stead said, “Matt has been the spearhead of our ODI attack for many years
“Doug is a quality bowler with a lot of experience and we feel his skills will complement a bowling line-up. That has already been selected for Pakistan and India,” New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said in a NZC release. He has experience in all three formats at the international level. Experience in the subcontinent. Have already demonstrated their skills this season.
Speaking on Matt Henry, Stead said, “Matt has been the leader of our ODI attack for many years and I know he is disappointed to be ruled out due to injury. With an important home series coming up, it is important for him to have time to recover in the coming weeks.”
Trent Boult is missing from the team
Let us tell you that Stead agreed that Trent Boult will not be a part of New Zealand’s team for the two-match Test series against England at home in February. Boult had turned down his New Zealand central contract in August last year, but played for the team in the T20 World Cup. He has not played for New Zealand since the T20 World Cup tournament, but has been active in T20 cricket for the Melbourne Stars franchise in the BBL. Boult will now also skip BBA to join up with MI Emirates for the inaugural ILT20 league. This tournament will run from 13 January to 12 February in the United Arab Emirates.
