He has become the most successful captain of India, surpassing MS Dhoni. He holds the record for winning most T20I matches in a year for Team India. Now MS Dhoni has slipped to the second position.

Rohit Sharma broke the record as soon as India defeated South Africa :-

In the first T20 International match played in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, 28 September, as Team India defeated South Africa, Rohit Sharma became the player to win the most T20I matches in a year for India. He has won the 16th T20 International match this year. At the same time, the record of winning most T20 matches in a year was recorded in the name of MS Dhoni.

Dhoni made this record in the year 2016 :-

Dhoni had made a record for India to win 15 T20 International matches as captain in the year 2016. It has now been dashed by Rohit Sharma. T20 World Cup was played that year as well and this year also T20 World Cup is to be played. But this year in Asia Cup also Indian team played T20 International cricket, in which Rohit captained the Indian team in 4 matches.
