IND vs SA, 2nd ODI, Shahbaz Ahmed: The Indian cricket team defeated South Africa by 7 wickets in the second ODI of the 3-match series on Sunday. India’s victory was also contributed by all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed, who made his ODI debut with the same match.
He became the 247th player to make his ODI debut for India. His batting did not come in this match, but Shahbaz impressed in the bowling. He got a wicket. However, his journey till joining the Indian team has not been easy.
Shahbaz Ahmed faced many difficulties to pursue his passion :-
Shahbaz faced many difficulties to pursue his passion. He even got an ultimatum from his father that either do something or else don’t come back. Shahbaz was a dropout engineering student. In such a situation, his parents were unhappy with this.
Not only this, he left Haryana and went to Kolkata, because he wanted to make his career not in engineering but in cricket. During this whole process, his father had warned him that do something, otherwise don’t come back.
Shahbaz’s parents revealed Shahbaz’s journey in The Indian Express: –
Shahbaz Ahmed’s father Ahmed Jan and his mother Abnam spoke openly about his cricketing journey while talking to The Indian Express. The mother said, “He was determined to do something big. Even his college professors told him it was a mistake (leaving engineering) because he was a good student.
Shahbaz had told his head of the department that ‘one day you will give me my degree and you will also welcome me.’ And this happened last year.”
Parth Pratim Chaudhary helped Shahbaz to become a cricketer :-
The father said, “He didn’t know how to cook, so his job was to clean the dishes. I told him that day to do something, or else don’t come back.” It was Parth Pratim Choudhary who helped get Shahbaz Ahmed into the Tapan Memorial Club.
The talented all-rounder then carved a path for himself. He played for the home team Bengal, where he performed well. On the basis of this, he was selected in the team of Royal Challengers Bangalore ie RCB in IPL.
