The captaincy of Virat Kohli and his continuance in the team will depend on his success in Tests during the tour of South Africa. The statement that Virat made against the BCCI in the press conference in Mumbai before leaving for South Africa is definitely like putting his hand in the beehive of Barre. As a captain, Virat is never double minded about his decisions.
One of the hardest things about leading a captaincy is making decisions for others and then carrying the burden of those decisions with you. In his first Test as captain, Virat replaced Ravichandran Ashwin with Karn Sharma in the team. The veteran off-spinner of the opposition team took 12 wickets in that match and led his team to victory. On the other hand, leg-spinner Karn never got a chance to play for India again.

Why does Virat Kohli get Angry?
It is a decision that can hurt, frighten any captain for life. And may prevent him from taking tough decisions in future. ‘If I had played my lead spinner, would the target be smaller in the fourth innings? Would that young leg-spinner’s career be different if I had taken him on the field only when he was fully prepared?’ Such questions may bother you. Virat is a little different from everyone else.

If he knows that his decision has been taken in the interest of the team, then he does not question it. According to him, hesitation makes you make mistakes on the field. When asked if playing his ‘best XI’ would have been a different match, he gets very annoyed. According to him, this meant that he deliberately did not field his best team.
Virat Refused to work with Anil Kumble
These things work differently for different people in different cultures. It is a great feature though. Virat Kohli has taken such bold steps throughout his career. Which may seem risky to people sitting outside. At one point, he had refused to work with the team’s head coach and legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble. That too when the public’s sympathy and the support of the old players were with Kumble.
During that time Virat had clashed alone. Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman were against his decision in the Cricket Advisory Committee. He was told that he was refusing to work with Kumble as well as Zaheer Khan and Virender Sehwag, who were selected as support staff. It was like walking on coals and after that if he didn’t give results it would have been like suicide for him.

Virat Kohli Sticks to his Decision in 2018-19 too
In 2018-19, when India played four fast bowlers who could not bat and lost the match in Perth, they were asked after the match whether these decisions were made due to injury. Virat Kohli clearly said that this decision has been taken in the interest of the team. But former players were still criticizing it. Then a week later Ravi Shastri came out and told that Jadeja was not fully fit. You will never get such comments from Virat who sticks to his decisions.
