Before this match, Indian batsman Virat Kohli needed 63 runs to go past Mahela Jayawardene in ODI cricket. Now he has gone ahead of Mahela Jayawardene in terms of scoring runs in ODI cricket. Now Virat has 12,754 runs in 259 innings.

Sri Lanka has been Virat Kohli’s favorite team since 2008. The 46th century of his ODI career imposed in Thiruvananthapuram, while the 74th century of his international career. This was his 11th century against Sri Lanka, the most against any one team.

Kohli played an unbeaten inning of 166 runs in this match. Along with this, he has left behind Sachin’s record in terms of scoring the most centuries while remaining unbeaten. Sachin had 15 unbeaten centuries and now Virat has scored 16 centuries.
