IND vs WI 1st Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal added another achievement to his Test career as soon as the first match (IND vs WI 1st Test) against the West Indies ended on Saturday. The youngster became the eighth Indian player to win the IND vs WI Man of the Match award on his debut in red-ball cricket. Jaiswal scored 171 off 387 balls. India won the match by an innings and 141 runs.

Jaiswal joins Prithvi Shaw (vs West Indies in 2018), Rohit Sharma (vs West Indies in 2013), Shikhar Dhawan (vs Australia in 2013), Ravichandran Ashwin (vs West Indies in 2011) in the list of Man of the Match wins on debut Test against), RP Singh (against Pakistan in 2006), Pravin Amre (against South Africa in 1992), and Shreyas Iyer (against New Zealand in 2021). He is the 17th Indian to get a Man of the Match award on his test debut.

Yashasvi Jaiswal thanked coach Dravid, captain Rohit Sharma after being selected as the player of the match. Jaiswal said, “The preparation was very good. We had a good session. Talked a lot to Rahul Dravid sir. I want to thank all the selectors and Rohit (Sharma) bhai for showing faith in me. That’s really cool, I’m working on it. I am focusing on good preparation and discipline. Playing Test cricket for India is very special and emotional for me.
