IND W vs BAN W: Smriti Mandhana said after defeating Bangladesh – proud of the way the girls came back after losing to Pakistan

India’s stand-in captain Smriti Mandhana has said that she is proud of the way the players have returned within 24 hours of their loss to Pakistan in the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 against Bangladesh. The Indian women’s cricket team defeated defending champions Bangladesh by 59 runs in their fifth match of the Asia Cup 2022 on Saturday. After registering their fourth win in the tournament, the Indian women’s cricket team is now on the verge of reaching the semi-finals. Regular captain Harmanpreet Kaur was rested in this match and Smriti Mandhana was captaining in her place.

Shafali batted brilliantly and Jemima had a great end to the innings.

Smriti Mandhana said after the match, “The last match was disappointing for us. But we came back. I am proud of the girls. Today we performed unitedly like a team. Shafali batted brilliantly and Jemima finished the innings brilliantly. Deepti showed excellent approach in the last five balls. We were fantastic as a bowling unit as well. We bowled a lot of dot balls and forced them to make mistakes. It was not easy for the fast bowlers to take wickets here, but our fast bowlers also did well.

Talking about the match, India won the toss and batted first and scored 159 runs for the loss of 5 wickets and then restricted Bangladesh to 100 runs for 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Nigar Sultana scored 36 runs for Bangladesh, Fergana Haque 30 and Murshida Khatoon scored 21 runs. For India, Shafali took 2 wickets giving only 10 runs in her four overs. Deepti Sharma conceded only 13 runs in 4 overs and got two breakthroughs.

Smriti Mandhana scored 47 and Jemimah Rodrigues scored 35 not out

Earlier, India scored 159 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Team India made a stormy start and scored 91 runs for 10 overs without any loss. But in the next 10 overs, the team could score only 68 runs. Shafali Verma scored the highest 55 runs for the Indian team. Apart from them, Smriti Mandhana, who was captaining in this match, scored 47 and Jemimah Rodrigues scored 35 not out. For Bangladesh, Rumana Ahmed took the highest three wickets in his name.
