India T20 WC Squad 2022: Mohammed Shami can return to India’s T20 team. At the same time, Jasprit Bumrah is still in rehabilitation from injury.

Shami’s name has been included in the team as the Indian pace attack. The 32-year-old bowler was part of India’s squad for the last T20 World Cup but hasn’t played in the shortest format of the game since then.

With the deadline for the T20 World Cup squad to be announcing. Mohammed Shami could make a surprise comeback depending on the injury status of fellow pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

A member of the selection committee told Sport: “No decision has been taken yet about the time frame for Bumrah’s recovery. At the same time, this week he will return to the NCA, after which a decision can be taken regarding his injury.

Need an experienced fast bowler for T20 World Cup:-

Once we have a clear idea, we can take a decision on whether we need an experienced fast bowler for the T20 World Cup.”

While a positive update has come on Harshal Patel’s recovery. However, the selectors will decide this week when Bumrah will return to the field.

Shami has been a part of the team in the last three World Cups, but despite this, he has hardly played for the shorter formats of cricket. Shami is the only player to have played 19 matches since making his debut in 2013.

The 32-year-old bowler performed well for the Gujarat Titans team in IPL 2022. He was instrumental in the Hardik Pandya-led side’s victory.

However, no comeback will be straightforward for this veteran India pacer, with a host of competition running down the ranks.

Deepak Chahar was recently recovering from injury and has been included in the squad for the Asia Cup in place of Avesh Khan. Chahar has the ability to bowl with the new ball and can also play the role of a batsman.

In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Shami could be a role model for Australian soil. His experience and hit-deck style make him absolutely worth it.
