Unmukt Chand, who led India to glory in the Under-19 World Cup in 2012, left Indian cricket at the age of 28. And in that note posted on his Twitter account, Chand said that he has “decided to say goodbye to BCCI and explore the best opportunities around the world”.
Following his heroics at 19 World Cup level – he also won the Player of the Match award for his unbeaten 111 in the 2012 final against Australia – Unmukt Chand was marked for success at higher levels as well, while he did not. The grade never represented India at the international level.
Unmukt Chand went on to say, “I don’t know how to feel with my honesty, I’m still figuring it out,” he wrote. “The thought of not being able to represent my country again really makes my heartbeat for a while.”
Unmukt Chand played 67 first-class matches in which he also scored 3379 runs at an overall average of 31.57 and a very good 151. He also did well in List A cricket, where he scored 4505 runs in 120 outings at an average of 41.33. In T20s, he also scored 1565 runs in 77 matches at an average of 22.35 and a strike rate of 116.09.
Chand took the seed after 2012 final, his temperament stood out well throughout the tournament as he guided India in unfamiliar conditions in Australia. He entered the Ranji Trophy for Delhi while in school and hit his first first-class century – 151 in his fourth game. He then entered the IPL at the age of 18 and was compared to Virat Kohli, who also led India to U-19 World Cup glory in 2008.
Unmukt Chand failed to impress in the IPL, turning out for India A and leading them to victories against New Zealand A in 2013 and Ban. An in 2015. Unmukt Chand left the Indian cricketer at the age of 28 and he was no longer too sure of Delhi. Soon he was dropped from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad as well, and he left Mumbai Indians due to his lack of playing time.

Unmukt Chand then went unsold in the IPL auction as well. In an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Unmukt Chand described this phase as the most junior point of his life.
In the year 2019-20, he also decided to play for Uttarakhand as a businessman, but he did not get success in that. He also scored 195 runs at an overall average of 13.92 in seven first-class matches that season.
